Geography

Visualize where your users are located around the world.

The Geography view shows the distribution of your users across countries and regions, helping you understand where your app is gaining traction.

Map View

The interactive map visualization shows user concentration by country. Countries with more users appear in darker shades, giving you an immediate visual sense of your geographic distribution.

Country Table

Below the map, a ranked table lists countries with:

  • Event counts per country
  • Percentage of total users from each country

Sort by event count or percentage to quickly identify your largest markets.

Region Data

Drill down into individual countries to see regional distribution. This gives you more granular location data — for example, seeing which states in the US or which provinces in Germany your users are concentrated in.

How Geographic Data Works

Geographic data is derived from IP addresses at the time of event ingestion. Here's the important privacy detail: the IP address is immediately discarded after the geolocation lookup and is never stored in the Adopture database.

The geolocation process produces:

  • Country name and code
  • Region or state
  • Approximate latitude and longitude (city-level precision, not exact location)

This gives you useful geographic insights while maintaining user privacy.

Using Geographic Data

Use geography data to:

  • Plan localization efforts — Identify countries where translating your app would have the most impact
  • Understand regional adoption — See which regions are adopting your app fastest
  • Identify growth markets — Spot emerging markets where you're gaining users
  • Inform marketing decisions — Target campaigns based on where your users actually are
